Christy was a mother in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with two very young children. When her breast cancer was diagnosed, she chose action over fear; she chose to make a difference for others.
Christy challenged her community to raise funds for local cancer patient care. With Christy’s leadership, they sponsored a 5K family walk in November of 1999 that raised $14,000 for breast cancer research at the American Cancer Society.

: Community Cancer Care honors her memory by embracing her model of community involvement, and her dream of providing support to those whose lives are shadowed by cancer.
